FatCat works with Rufty Homes to achieve their goal of winning another BALA and receive recognition at the industry's biggest event of the year.

Discover the strategies FatCat implemented to help grab the attention of the nominating committee.

In the home building industry, winning a Best in American Living Award (BALA) at the yearly International Builders’ Show is an aspiration for attendees.

Our custom home building client, Rufty Homes, last won a BALA back in 2012, despite entering a project for consideration every year since then.

As this is a paid entry, the company felt like it was spending time and money to submit projects for nomination with no results. It also knew that receiving another award would help increase recognition and brand awareness, which could help the business continue to grow.

For the 2022 awards, the company turned to FatCat for help with the nomination process.

Our team worked with Rufty Homes to identify a project that would fit a specific BALA category, deciding on Entire Home, Over $750,000. From there, we coordinated with the homeowners, the Rufty Homes team, and the lead architect to learn more about the details of the project.

Submitting an entry for the BALAs involves writing a short narrative about the details of the project. By talking to the key players, we were able to write a captivating entry that grabbed the attention of the nominating committee.

We also coordinated with a local photographer to capture accurate and high-quality “after” photos to showcase the transformation of this luxury remodel that would accompany the entry.

At the 2023 International Builders Show, Rufty Homes was presented with the Gold-Level award for the Entire Home, Over $750,000 category for their entry, The Power of Collaboration

The company finally achieved its goal of winning another BALA and received recognition at the industry’s biggest event of the year.

“Entering the BALA competition and winning a national award is a great accomplishment.  We are thankful for FatCat’s help in creating a submission that verbalizes the vision of the home and allowed the judges to understand our quality that ultimately led to our award.  FatCat was involved in this award from the entry and photography to the celebration and announcement of the win to all those involved with creating, designing and building this home.” – Jon Rufty, Rufty Homes
