In this edition of our Tip of the Week series, we’ll continue our focus on online reviews. By this point, you’ve learned how important reviews can be for home improvement contractors. We’ve also gone over the importance of responding to your customer’s reviews, whether good or bad. Business reviews act as a signal to potential customers about the quality of your services and responding shows them that you care about their satisfaction. But the reason we’re so passionate about online reviews, and why we’ve dedicated 4 individual videos about them, is simple: reviews get leads. One of the best tactics to generate leads is to share your reviews online and brag about the great work you do.

Should I Share my Reviews on Social Media?

Let’s take a second to look at some numbers. According to Brandwatch, a social intelligence company, there are over 3.5 billion active social media accounts. That’s almost half of the world’s entire population! On average, people are spending 143 minutes per day online, which is just shy of two and a half hours.

Social media isn’t just for teenagers or young millennials either. 72% of adults ages 30-49 and 62% of those ages 50-64 are active Facebook users. Another interesting statistic from Brandwatch’s report states that people aged 55-64 are more than twice as likely to engage with branded content than those 28 or younger. If I had to bet, I’d guess that at least a few of those people are in the market for remodeling services.

So should you share your reviews on social media? The answer should be a pretty obvious “yes”. By neglecting to share reviews on social media, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to market your home improvement services.

Sharing Reviews Creates Social Proof

Sharing reviews online does more than get your company’s name in front of potential customers’ eyes. By sharing positive reviews of your remodeling services, you’re creating social proof, which is the basic idea that humans trust things more if other people use them and enjoy them.

If you’re casually comparing two roofing companies and one lists a ton of customer reviews while the other has none, which looks more appealing? All else being equal, to which company would you rather pay thousands of dollars?

Best Places to Share Your Reviews

On Your Website

The first and most obvious place to share reviews would be on your actual website. Consider creating a testimonial or review page that you can link to from your service pages. You can embed Yelp, Google My Business, and Facebook reviews on your website, which can lead to an increase in leads for your business. In addition, you can generate reviews on your own website, which can then be marked up with Schema.

Google My Business

We’ve talked about it before, but Google My Business (GMB) is one of the most important tools for home improvement contractors. It’s a useful platform for not only generating reviews but sharing them too. In April of this year, Google launched a “Suggested Posts: Customer Testimonials” feature, which automatically suggests positive reviews to be shared as GMB posts.

Social Media

Social media, especially Facebook, is one of the best places to share customer reviews. Similarly to Google My Business, highlighting positive reviews and sharing them can help to create social proof around your business.

Email

Sharing positive reviews through an email blast is another effective tactic for creating social proof. Consider combining an offer with a positive review of the same service. Depending on how large your email marketing list is, you can send out multiple versions of the email, all with a unique review and offer.
